In order to reduce pressure in the Lordotic Curve (the s-curve at the base of your spine) the knees need to be bent. To achieve this, you can either elevate the legs (i.e. an adjustable base) or you can sleep on your side.
RECOMMENDATION
Side sleepers tend to enjoy pressure-relieving mattresses to reduce strain on shoulders and hips. They should avoid ultra plush comforts which can invert the spine.
